This eLearning course is designed to give you an understanding of autism, your role as a health and social care worker, and the expectations in Health and Social Care.
It entails the definition of autism, causes of autism, genetic and environmental factors, and how it develops.
It also discusses the ‘triad of impairments’ which are three areas of difficulty used to describe and diagnose autism. Besides the triad, this module also looks at other experiences autistic individuals may have such as sensory sensitivity, problems with motor skills and anxiety.
The course will also cover the legislation and how to take care of people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
