This eLearning course aims to introduce you to the topic of pressure area care in Health and Social Care.
It begins by describing the anatomy and physiology of the skin as it relates to pressure areas. The course then describes what pressure areas are, what a pressure sore is and informs the learner about the different pressure sites of the body. The course then explains the factors that might put an individual at risk of skin breakdown and pressure sores.
In the next stage, the learner will be introduced to a range of interventions that can reduce the risk of skin breakdown and pressure sores, and the aids and equipment that can be used to relieve pressure.
In the final stage, the course outlines the different legislation and national guidance affecting pressure area care describes ways of working and explains the importance of team working in relation to pressure area care.
