This course is designed to raise awareness of Extremism, Radicalisation and the Prevent Duty, your role as a health and social care worker, and the expectations in Health and Social Care.
The course begins by exploring the meaning of the Prevent Duty and the terms associated with it. This includes learning about key terms: Terrorism, Extremism and Radicalisation. It also explains the Prevent Strategy and Prevent Duty.
Topic 2 looks at how an individual may be vulnerable to being radicalised and how vulnerability can arise from different causes such as isolation, bereavement, or personal crisis. This module also explores how individuals can be exposed to radicalisation and the indicators that may cause concerns including withdrawal from usual interests, family, and friends.
In the final stage of the course, you will learn about how to manage any concerns you may have. Radicalisation is a safeguarding issue and should be recorded and reported in the same way. This topic emphasises how important it is to familiarise yourself with your organisations safeguarding policies and procedures.
